The Midpoint Cafe and the Route 66 Midpoint sign. Adrian sits at the exact midpoint of Historic Route 66, 1,139 miles from both Chicago and Los Angeles, and the cafe (known for its "ugly crust pies") is the town's signature stop.

A little history

Adrian got its start in 1900 as a Rock Island railroad survey stop west of Amarillo, and the town formally began in 1909 when the Chicago, Rock Island and Gulf Railway came through. It was named for local farmer Adrian Cullen.
