Worth a stop

The USDA-ARS Conservation and Production Research Laboratory, a federal agricultural research station known for its work on soil, water, and beef cattle research on the Southern High Plains. The town's grain elevators along old Route 66 are its most visible landmark.

A little history

Bushland got its start as a station on the Chicago, Rock Island and Gulf Railway, named for William Henry Bush, who donated land for the townsite from the Frying Pan Ranch. The townsite was dedicated on July 3, 1908, and the post office opened the following January.
